Beaches in the surroundings

There are plenty of secluded sandy beaches within 20 minutes of the center of Noto, some of them known to be amongst the most beautiful in Italy. The closest beaches to Noto, Eloro-Pizzuta, less than 10 minutes from Noto and Noto Marina, are easily reachable and we can arrange transport if you don’t have a car and book you a spot in a private beach club with al facilities.

Some of our favorite beaches near Noto include San Lorenzo which is ideal for families and often compared to the Caribbean because of its turquoise waters and fine, golden sand. The unique 13-mile long Riserva Naturale di Vendicari, is an unspoiled beach and migrating ground for thousands of birds and there are Greek archeological remains in the area to explore, too. From the observation cabins, you can admire Flamingos, Herons, and Storks that sit here a while before heading off to their final migratory destinations. Ideal for bird and nature lovers who enjoy flora, fauna and history and for the purists who prefer beaches with no sunbeds or umbrellas. Here at Riserva Naturale di Vendicari there’s just miles of sand, blue sea and unspoiled nature.

Nature lovers will also enjoy the beach at Cala Mosche, it’s a bit of a hike to get to but the views are worth the walk and the swimming area is protected. This little sandy bay has been named in the past as ‘the most beautiful beach in Italy’ and it’s easy to see why; it sits in between two rocky headlands which shield the current allowing the Caribbean-blue water to remain calm and clear. Ideal for snorkeling, you can swim out to the reef to enjoy the deep blue depths of the ocean, colorful marine life and caves. There’s only one entrance to the beach and the path leading to it is just over half a mile (1km) long.
Just 15/20 minutes by car, is Marianelli Beach, an isolated and unpolluted beach, nestled between almond trees, lemon trees and sand dunes. Marianelli Beach is a gay friendly beach where you can also practice nudism. Traditional swimmers and bathers are also welcome, and the different communities exist in harmony with mutual respect for each other and for the surrounding nature.

Not to be confused with Noto, Lido di Noto is a stunning sandy beach with sand dunes just 15 minutes from the center of Noto itself. Lido di Noto only has a few hundred residents and was specifically built as a beach destination in the 1930’s. This tranquil spot is ideal for families with its shallow waters and gently sloping shoreline of the Ionian Sea. There’s fun for all of the family and all ages as it’s a great place for watersports too and there are plenty of restaurants, cafés and pizzerias to choose from, ensuring no one goes hungry!
